Riding Bikes April 2009

The beginning of March Kaylee decided she wanted her training wheels off. Josh didn't want to take them off so my friend Becky & I did it. I helped Kaylee ride around in the cul de sac and then over spring break took her to the bike trail. After a few meltdowns and my back feeling like it was going to break I started wondering why I didn't listen to Josh. But then she just took off!! There was a bunch of kids riding around and I was sitting outside talking to my grandma on the phone when I looked up and my little Kaylee bugs was riding her bike!!! I couldn't believe it! It just proves to me that we should NEVER give up!

Here are a couple picutres of my cute little Rosie!
You are just so cute!

Painting Easter eggs 4-10-09

The kids love to paint eggs...me, not so much as an adult, but I would do anything for my kids to have fun and make their holiday a little more special. As a kid we always took our eggs and threw them down a hill. I don't know why we did it, it had no point but there was something exciting about throwing that egg as hard as you can and seeing it splat into pieces along the hillside. I have never taken my girls to do it..maybe I will next year and see if I will enjoy painting eggs again. But for this year I will sit through the spills, the dye on my table, hands, kids clothes, etc, the smell of the eggs, the broken eggs in the baskets, and the waste of food & money.

An amazing week April 5-12-2009

This year our family decided to completely focus on why we celebrate Easter. Josh & I made a special phone call to the Easter bunny and asked him if he could stop by our house on Friday night from now on so we could keep our Sabbath day holy. He was very much obliged! We started with Sunday the 5th which is exactly one week before Easter. (We used our Gospel Art Kit for pictures each day) We talked about the triumphal entry and then went for a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood finding things like, a rock, a nail, a thorn, etc. I'm sad because I had intentions of taking pictures everyday and this is the only one I got! So each day we talked about what would have been happening on that day during Christ's last week on the earth. On Tuesday we had an amazing Young Women's night, talking about the same concept. I cried through the whole thing. One of the other leaders asked me if I had allergies or if I was just emotional. During the week we had our very own last super. I think this was the kids favorite. We put a blanket on the ground and lit a candle. We then ate lamb, fish, olives, homemade unleavened bread, almonds, raisins, and sparkling grape juice. This was such an amazing week! I can't believe it took me this long to finally catch on to the true meaning and put it into play in our own lives. The kids loved it so much! They didn't feel cheated in the least bit, if anything they felt so blessed and it made our family closer!

Conference 4-2009

I LOVE conference! It has become a tradition at our house to bring activity tables into the family room and all weekend we hang out, watch conference, do quiet activities, and eat at Cafe Rio while Josh is at Priesthood on Saturday night. I usually scrapbook but this year we were asked to speak in sacrament on April 26th on baptism and the Holy Ghost based off of conference, so I took notes the whole time. I bought Jayden & I a special journal for recording special talks like general conference, Stake Conference, YW general conference, etc..... I hope that Jayden will have it clear full of great stuff so when she is FULL blown into her teenage years or even later in life she can refer back to this special journal. For me conference is like a breath of fresh air! It brings renewed feelings of hope, peace, and an I can do it attitude! I am so greatful for our living prophet, President Monson and for the gospel! I don't know where i'd be without it!

We painted the outside of our store 4-09

Josh got the outside of our furniture store painted and it looks amazing!!!! Next he is gutting the upstairs and then painting that ugly dome. I have to say that I am so impressed with Josh. He is such a visionary person and I am not. When he first showed me this building I wanted to cry! I thought you've gotta be kidding...right? But he has turned it into a classy furniture store and I am so very proud of him!

Lucky got groomed! 4-2009

Lucky finally got an officiall groom after 2.5 years of life. I can't believe how cute he looked! It was like we got a new puppy. (The 2 girls holding the pup are quite cute too!)

If you have a princess like mine....

In reguards to my prior post, if you have a princess like my Ashlyn then this is the perfect book for your child! We love it at our house!

Hangin out April 6, 2009

We have SPRING FEVER!!! Ever since spring break it's been hard to want to do anything besides play. The weather has been beautiful! Kaylee has gotten pretty good at rollerskating. I don't even have to help her...she just goes! When did my baby decide to grow up. I don't remember her asking my permission because if she would have asked I definitely would have said NO!

My sweet little Ashlyn has grown up & changed so much this last year! She has informed us that she is not a princess anymore and doesn't like princess things. She doesn't like pink and she doesn't walk around on her tippy toe's anymore. She likes basketball, black & white, and she wants to be a rock star when she grows up!!!
GULP!!!!

Umm......ok. I am trying to digest all of that, still. I thought stuff like that didn't happen until 5th or 6th grade. Not 2nd!!! Believe me many prayers have been said asking to help me be a good mom and to be interested in what Ashlyn is interested in. I don't like Hannah Montanna (although I did see the movie and thought it was cute), I actually don't really like any of the Disney channel shows. I feel like it makes our kids grow up to fast. About half way through the year Ashlyn would come home & say, "Mom, everyone has a Hannah Montanna shirt except me!!!! Why can't I get one??? Well, personally I don't think their very cute! SO after her announcement I was @ Target and I thought to myself, you can do it! Buy her a Hannah Montanna shirt. Well I couldn't find any. I did find a High school musical 3 nightgown, so I thought ok atleast it won't have to be worn in public! Well I sat there and looked at it and I HATED it! It was ugly! I can't pay $16.00 for something that' s not even cute!!! So. I went to the dollar store and bought her a Hannah Montanna puzzle and some High school musical mechanical pencils. Maybe it will hold her over for awhile!
Ashlyn sweetie I do have some news for you! You will ALWAYS be a princess to me!

I wish I would have taken more pictures over spring break because we had a lot of fun even though we stayed in St George. We went hiking, swimming everyday @ Aunt Chris', We rode bikes on the bike trail, and stayed up late.
